Our Ministry Focus

Southern Colorado Youth for Christ has been coming along-side incarcerated youth and their families in Colorado Springs and Pueblo for over fifteen years. Volunteers and staff facilitate small groups and one-on-one coach/mentoring sessions serving these youth. We mentor young people who often have been victimized themselves, have committed serious crimes, and repeatedly feel hopeless alienation. Our deepest desire for each one is to come to understand they have been created with purpose, have opportunity for a renewed heart and mind through their Creator…Jesus, and to team up with a YFC Coach/Mentor to walk beside them as they reenter community; never to return.

Currently, Youth for Christ provides these type of services in five of the eight detention, group home, and youth related facilities that have invited us to work with their youth. In some cases, we also provide praise and worship services, devotionals, and small group Bible studies.

Southern Colorado Youth for Christ Juvenile Justice Ministry works directly with 100’s of incarcerated/hospitalized teens.  By Adopting a Pod, you’ll help to care for tangible and spiritual needs that will follow teens as they earn their freedom and reconnect with the outside world.

What’s a Pod?  A Pod provides living quarters for approximately 20 young men or women.  By Adopting-A-Pod you can support teens in a numbers of ways.

The WINGS program, in partnership with Peak Aviation and volunteer pilots from Skywest and United Airlines, provide an accelerated ground school where incarcerated young people learn how to fly a plane, be introduced to the flight industry and actually complete the program by flying a real plane with an instructor.

Firefighters Training

The Firefighters Training program is provided in partnership with The Security Fire Department  and provides incarcerated young people with an opportunity to see what the life of a fireman looks like and possibly choose a firefighting career.

G.O.L.F. (Gods Opportunities Looking Forward) training is provided in partnership with PGA Professional Gregg Jones & Golf World. It includes 6 weeks of classes by a PGA Professional, introduction to the golf industry and an opportunity to play 18 holes in our golf fundraiser where they attend and speak at the awards luncheon.
